A.C.T. VII
This is a ‘recreated’ post written on 15 August 2024. I recently went disc golfing with an old friend, my rival, JumboC. We discussed many of the old times playing in the Amateur Challenge Tournament (ACT) and I had nothing on here to reference as they were all on Facebook. This post will be a placeholder where I’ll put in the deteriorated pictures I’ve downloaded from there, until a time when I’ll add context about the day.
[Approximately] 5 June 2011
This tournament was the ACT’s seventh, but the first in which we participated.
R.I.P. Daniel A Steen Sr. [1978-2017] was next to me on my right [left of me in the picture].
The other guy is just ‘dead-to-me,’ and then there is the one I have chosen to erase from my memory [LOL].
Our first time playing in this tournament where we registered as “Recreational.” JumboC defeated Chi by one: 143-144. If you look in the gallery below, there is a picture where my disc landed two-feet or so out of bounds. That was the difference.
Text that was originally posted on Facebook for the pictures in the gallery above:
“The Champ is here”
“MFP”
[None]
“The players meeting”
“The first-round group. I was paired up with them.”
“My disc landed a foot out of bounds and cost me a stroke.”
“Jimmy trying to peak in on the tent for the updated scores”
“Getting a peek at the pairings/scores”
Driving times are approximate:
Hartford = 0h, 15m.
Tolland = 0h, 20m.
New Haven = 0h, 45 m.
Torrington = 0h, 55m.
New London = 1h, 0m.
Boston = 1h, 35m.
NYC = 2 h, 30m.
