BC Football vs. Notre Dame (2010)

Note, this was written in September 2024 to recreate and reference a post which was lost. Old computer(s), Google Drive, Facebook, etc. were all searched for context, but not much was able to be recovered. We will try to add some details, but as our memories have faded, this may well be all that we have left of that moment in time.

2 October 2010

The 2-1 Eagles lost to the 1-3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish by the score of 31-13.

We watched this game with 40,498 other fans; the capacity in alumni stadium is 45,500.

This rivalry is called the “Holy War” because Boston College and Notre Dame are the only two Catholic Universities that play Division One Football. The Eagles lost to the Fighting Irish the year prior in South Bend, but before that had a six-game wining streak against them! That is amazing considering that the ‘Irish’ are seemingly always in contention for the national championship.

I was able to find the BC YouTube video highlight of the day…
