D.N.C. - Philadelphia (2016)

Note, this was written on 22 August 2024 to recreate a post which was lost. Old computer(s), Google Drive, Facebook, etc. were all searched for context, but not much was able to be recovered. We will try to add some details, but as our memories have faded, this may well be all that we have left of that moment in time.

I, Chi, went alone to see what was happening for the last two days at the Democratic National Convention hosted at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I took an Amtrak train down from Waterbury, CT and camped-out overnight by hanging a hammock in FDR Park across the street.

Five organized groups of Sanders supporters had applied for demonstration permits from the Philadelphia police department. A joint rally between the Poor People’s Economic Human Rights Campaign and the Green Party of the United States was denied a protest permit, but both groups planned to go ahead with their protest regardless

Reading Terminal Market

Before all of the fun, I had to get something to eat. Since I had already tried the famous “Cheese Steak” seven years before, I went for Philly’s second sandwich, the Google AI describe it so: “The Philadelphia Italian Roast Pork sandwich is a popular sandwich in Philadelphia that features slow-roasted pork, broccoli rabe, and provolone cheese on a crusty Italian hero roll.” And it must be healthy if Al Roker was having one… he has lost a lot of weight.
