Kelly’s (Roast Beef)

The beefs pictured in the collage are ‘smalls’ because we had already had a pizza at Monte’s in Lynn. Although plain looking, they have mayonnaise and sauce (on the side for a cleaner experience).

After a night out in Boston, we returned for more. It is impossible to find sandwiches like this in Connecticut; there is just nothing like it.

Nicole ordered a hamburger this time around. Beef again for me. As a child, I remember sitting in the back seat of my father’s car when he handed me my first Roast Beef from Land & Sea in Peabody… mayo and cheese, no sauce or onion roll yet. I have never ordered anything else when it was an option.

Reviews:

Chi: This Kelly’s was so close to the hotel we had go twice. It wasn’t the first time I’ve doubled up on roast beef sandwiches. To be honest, I could eat this every day. For some reason the onion rings sucked both times, I’m not sure what is up with that - wicked disappointing. Usually the batter at North Shore restaurants is lighter and melt in your mouth flaky, but these seemed overcooked and heavy. The staff is clearly brought in to serve the masses; I guess you need to go to the smaller local take-outs where it’s all Greeks working to get the authentic thing.

Coley: “It was a nice option. Not as good as other ones we’ve had. These weren’t as juicy. The Kelly’s down by Revere Beach was better than this one. The onion rings were dry.”
