Saint Patrick’s Day - Boston (2016)

[Note: this is an anniversary reposting of this occasion. Only a few pictures were able to be recovered from Facebook, and they are lacking in context.]

20 March 2016

The introductory picture which follows captures Nicole taking a shot of me sitting in the same doorway in which the Boston Police Department found me drinking a beer two years prior. At that time they made me pour it out! This time, I assure you, we were drinking coffee.

The wide angle photo that comes after had a quote on Facebook that I have copied here:

This is a composite of two pictures that the Google Photos App combined for me, on it’s own. It did a good job.

We only went down to Boston for the day. Having parked outside of the city, we took the Green Line transit in and with a few transfers we were in South Boston. We set up shop on a corner and got some great pictures, one in particular was of the band, Dropkick Murphys. I saw them play here in 2014 and, yeah, they recognized me.

The parade route is 3.5 miles long. These guys [those marching] were on point.

I’m lucky to have been born a New England Irish-American but I earned the greatest girlfriend ever. I’m that good.

I understand that quote doesn’t really make any sense; Nicole doesn’t have any Irish ancestry, so maybe I was just feeling lucky that she lets me have it.

I had my GoPro with me and filmed a two minute twenty second clip of us leaving the parade. Its titled, Getting Away from Broadway.

It was a little slow-going as the collage aged kids hang out several groups deep. In the video you will see a guy hit his head on a street sign, a woman possible try to elbow me, all the while listening to the Dropkicks play, The State of Massachusetts.
