Suffield Academy Alumni Soccer (2019)

Note: this was written in August 2024 to recreate a post which was lost. All of my old computers, Google Drive, Facebook, etc. were all searched for context, but only what was shown below was able to be recovered. I will try to add some details, but as my memories have faded, this may well be all that I have left of that moment in time.

7 September 2019

The Suffield Academy Tigers played an exhibition game against the Alumni Team.

Joseph Fleming Highlighted Second from the Left

I regret and apologize for the fact that I don’t remember who sent me the awesome group photograph. Not properly crediting someone for their work is a cardinal sin. It must have been someone with the school. For previous years I have used the picture off of their magazine, and it looks like this is where that was intended to be published. Interestingly, I can’t find that years version of the Fall Magazine online anywhere.

Also note the ridiculous gut on the highlighted guy second from the left. What is even more disturbing than the fact that I was out of shape is that I know I’m heavier while writing this. Maybe it muscle now?

I only have three picture from this day, all of the rest have been lost. To be honest, I do have a few short video clips but this webhost limits me to only 30-minutes of video uploads in total and I can’t spare the room for a game I didn’t play in. My unyielding support of the school and the team will have to suffice.

I’m very proud of this school and the fact that I graduated from there. Even though I couldn’t find a video specially about the 2019 Alumni Sports Day, here is one that showcases some drone footage of the fields and school grounds in general that was taken around that timeframe. It is not an ‘official’ video per se, but it looks good; maybe they should recreate this themselves.

The reason I don’t have much to say about this particular day was that I had to hit the ground running. I drove an hour to be there knowing I’d almost immediately have to get on the road again for the drive to Boston College. Their golden Eagles football team were playing the Richmond Spiders, and it’s not the match-up that mattered, but it was knowing that soon we would not be renewing our decades long season tickets which were eight-rows back on the 50-yard line. I had to go; those seats were amazing. To see that adventure, click Boston College vs. Richmond (2019).
