UCONN Football vs. SMU (2018)
Note, this was written in August 2024 to recreate and reference a post which was lost. Old computer(s), Google Drive, Facebook, etc. were all searched for context, but not much was able to be recovered. We will try to add some details, but as our memories have faded, this may well be all that we have left of that moment in time.
10 November 2018
The 1-8 Huskies lost to the 4-5 Southern Methodist University Mustangs in a shootout, 62-50.
I was really excited that my son wanted to come to the game, and wow, he saw a lots of point put up on the board! Too bad they scored 50… and still managed to lose!
“The sun has been out at times, a few snowflakes were also seen. I can’t tag him but I think [Hurricane] is having a good time.”
And the weather was perfect for football… 42-degrees but felt like 30 and with 30 MPH wind gusts! It didn’t really feel like that. In the stadium the wind was not noticeable and it was warm enough. That AccuWeather really got the cload cover wrong, the pictures definitly don’t show 91% cloud cover.
Apparently the SMU coach was former UCONN’s Offensive Coordinator, Rhett Lashlee, so he knew how to light up their defense… but UCONN couldn’t figure out what he was going to do!?
“Great day, forgot to thank and shout out to [Don Pedro], the The Donut Guy, and Jamie Ennis. Much love guys”
I was able to find the UCTV YouTube highlight of the of the day…
…and also the UCONN Marching Band video of their halftime performance.
