Alvarium Beer Company, III
Note, this was written on 26 July 2024, the fourth anniversary of our trip to see New London historic sites. It is an attempt to recreate a post which was lost. Old computer(s), Google Drive, Facebook, etc. were all searched for context, but not much was able to be recovered. We will try to add some details, but as our memories have faded, this may well be all that we have left of that moment in time.

This was, at least, our second trip to Alvarium. If it was a little closer to us it would be a go-to for sure. I rate the interior set up a little higher than Coley does, but there can be no doubt that they have one of the best line ups of New England style IPA!

KRAFTWERK [HEFEWEIZEN]
Our house Hefeweizen strain, plus local malts and hops from our friends over at Thrall Family Malts, in Windsor, CT and DeFrancesco Farms, in Northford, CT lend a crisp, tart, clove character at first sip. This is immediately followed by a bready, vanilla finish in the back end.
TANGERINE HAZE [NEW ENGLAND PALE ALE]
Soft, juicy and dank, with notes of tropical fruit and bright citrus from Citra and Amarillo hops, Tangerine Haze is both the cause, and cure of, cottonmouth.
PHRESH [NEW ENGLAND IPA]
Our flagship NEIPA, utilizing a boatload of Mosaic and Citra hops for a true liquid, rainbow sherbet experience.
WORKSHOP [ROTATING NEIPA SERIES]
Our experimental rotating hop NEIPA series. Each new revision gets a new hop/hop combo and serves as the proving ground for future NEIPAs.
HONEY SHOT [NEW ENGLAND DOUBLE IPA]
Honey Shot is loaded with wildflower honey and massive shots of Citra hops throughout the boil and dry hop. Soft, sweet with a finish of tropical fruit and delicate honey sweetness!
The embedded YouTube video by WFSB is part of their “somethings Brewing” series. I have never heard of this before today, but if they kept producing these, then I’ll add them specifically to our brewery visit posts going forward.
