Octoberfest - Harpoon (2022)

Note, was written in August 2024 to recreate a post which was lost, and we want to reference it in our upcoming celebratory post in September of 2024. Although our Oktoberfest experiences only go back a few years, so much of the true experience is still going to be lost. Old computer(s), Google Drive, Facebook, etc. were all searched for context, but not much was able to be recovered. We will try to add some details, but as our memories have faded, this may well be all that we have left of that moment in time.

12:00 PM - 5:00PM, Saturday, 1 October 2022

This my third and Nicole’s second Harpoon Octoberfest. I was surprised that for their 32nd annual celebration that no one has told them that they are still spelling Oktoberfest incorrectly, but it is what it is I guess.

The event was awesome, as usual. We skipped 2020 and 2021 in order to go on our Leafin’ Adventures, but we were glad we made it back.

The collage shows me wearing my new lederhosen, but it didn’t make the trip because it was far too tight fitting. I guess German sizing is a little different. I had too many bratwursts and would have to order a bigger size for the next year.

If we don’t stay downtown and walk, we’ve come to learn through experience that taking MBTA Commuter Rail in-and-out of the Hub is the best choice. It great for relaxing; no stress.

The event experience was similar to the last time we were here… great music and beer. See post, Octoberfest - Harpoon (2019). There were no brewery tours offered this time, however, which kind of sucked because it was the perfect break in the action and it’s always cool to get a look behind the curtain.

Anyway, we were happy we arrived early and left before it was too much. Awesome time.

When we got of the shuttle from Harpoon to South Station we asked an Officer for his advice on a good place to eat and he recommend the South Street Diner a few blocks away. I usually don’t like the diner experience, but this place was great. It was perfect for the time and place.

Bonus content: I only spent about 30-seconds looking for a YouTube video from the day we were there, and I only saw this one [they have EVERY other year]. I don’t know if the language is German [it’s definitely not], Greek, or something in-between, but it might show more of the atmosphere than we did.
